Deleted my desktop

Ok, I was messing around in my home dir and deleted my desktop directory.

I recreated a new dir called Desktop in my home dir and figure that I can continue to recreate links to applications and locations.

My question is, how do I get the images to show up on my desktop again. I can recreate all these links, but can't get them to show on my desktop.

So I need to know how to recreate my real Desktop including trash...

uh... I thought if the Desktop directory isn't available, it will recreate a new one for you automatically? 'It' being whatever desktop environment you are using....

You're right... I logged out and back in again and I had home and trash... thanks...
