Hey guys.. I just downloaded mandrake and when I finally got it to boot up so that I could install it (I had to make a floppy) it tells me that the cd in the drive isn't the mandrake installation cd. I tried all 3 cds and in both drives, but nothing is working. Thanks in advance!

please post the first couple folders/files that are on the cd.

folders: doc, dosutils, images, isolinux, Mandrake, misc
files: autorun, pkg-9.1-Bamboo-i586, RPM-GPG-keys.. and the rest are just txt files/files with some info in them on the versions, copyright, how to install etc.

i was just checking to see if you burned the .iso correctly, and looks like you did. I have no idea what the problem is except maybe the cd's are corrupt. Did you check the md5sums on the .iso images?

er.. I didn't actually download the iso, I downloaded it off a bit torrent site and it came as a .rar. Is there any file the app checks for to see if it's the installation cd? or is it maybe just the boot floppy that's screwed up?

There are a couple of things you can do. Copy all the cds contents to a harddrive and do a HD install, or if you are on a network, copy all the cd contents onto another computer and try a network install, or better yet, download the correct .iso files from www.mandrake.com

no, but make sure you know the partition/folder

thanks for all your help, but the problem was unupdated boot disks, it seems several other people have been having this problem as they made a patch for it. The website with the downloads (it has lots of different patches) can be found at http://www.netikka.net/tmb/9.1
