I had my friend give me a copy of his RH9 installer which he burned thru CDR. His copy works perfectly. I tried installing it and after I hit ENTER at the initial GUI screen, it seems to stop at the point which says "loading \sbin\install" or something like that. After a few minutes, it proceeds in text mode and I can successfully get pass the Language and the Keyboard Type screens. But when i select "local cdrom" in the next screen, it shows this message and i cannot continue anymore. i also tried downloading the iso image and burnning it to cdrom but the same error happens when i install. help!!

I've seen threads here on the same or similiar problem and it's usually hardware related.

What is your hardware (hd's, cdroms - primary master/slave etc.)??

Ensure PnP OS and Power Management is disabled in the bios.
