I have a very new computer, and I'm looking to install Linux. I don't really care what distro, as I will probably install a very bare minimum and compile the rest. All I need is a very basic install of Linux that will install on this hardware.

MSI 865PE Neo2-FIS2R

1GB Dual Channel DDR400

2xST380013AS Seagate 80GB 7200RPM Serial ATA Hard Drive in Hardware RAID0 on onboard Intel 82801ER controller of the ICH5R chipset

I think you'll find that most modern distros will be able to cope with SATA, although you may find a lack of functionality in some areas. Check the hardware databases of each of the distros to be sure.

Probably worth reading up on some of the SATA Linux material that Google picks up.
