Is there a way to add the shred command to the right click menu??

It would be so much easier for me to just right click on files and shred them.

It depends on what window manager/desktop are you using...Which one do you use?

Moved to Window/Desktop Managers and also changed the subject to a more meaningful one.

There is a script for nautilus called Shredder that can be downloaded & then moved to /home/foo/.gnome/nautilus-scripts directory that will let you choose it from the right mouse click. It & a few other nautilus scripts can be found at www.themedepot.org undeer nautilus scripts - have fun I have found several of the scripts to be really usefull.

Two recommendations:

1. Think of another place to have the shred, you are likely to miss the click and be pissed.
2. Or ensure there is a confirm for the shred.

There are a few ways to get the data back if you fubar something, but this is one of those dangerous "thangs" to put into a one-click access.
