Just giving everyone a heads up if they run glibc2_3 (RH9 and Mandrake 9.1 do by default)... you're going to have problems with Wine...

Check out this post at LinuxQuestions.org:

Getting the CVS and compiling with the --nptl flag on your configure command should sort it.

Gonna test it and see if it works. :)

Shouldn't this be in the 'how I did it' forum?

Yep, it should be moved. Doing that...

The WineX CVS --enable-pthreads configure switch also helps. That has been suggested on the winex-devel mailing list when people ask on it about problems with NPTL and/or TLS systems. I'm not even sure what it does, but it has helped a couple of people.

Ok, im a massive linux newbie here.

Im on Mandrake 9.1 with KDE, and im trying to get wine to work.

I was trying to use StarCraft as a test game.

I got it to run, albeit extremely poorly.

Extacly how would i go about compiling it the way you mention.

Ive never done anything like that before, so some detailed help (whether from you, or a nice document) would be great.
