KDE E-mail applet

In Gnome, I have a nice little applet that checks my mail server every five minutes (or whatever I set it to) and then tells me if I have any e-mail. Another applet I've got tells me the current temperature and weather conditions.

Is there a way to have similar applets in KDE?

'Mail Monitor' that I have in the Internet menu of KDE. I haven't used it though.

Kmail has options within it's account setup etc. for setting notifications such as playing a sound or whatnot.

Have a look through your KDE menus to see what you have available and search www.kde.org or http://apps.kde.org
