Well I just finished spending over a week getting RT: Request Tracker installed on my company's server. I dont know what other people have had to go through while installing this, but here is what I had to do
1. Upgrade GCC
2. Reinstall Perl
3. Upgrade Make
4. Downgrade Apache and Modperl to 1.xx (Apache2 and Modperl2 would not work at all)
5. Drive myself crazy trying to get CPAN to work
6. Get every single last module (including dependencies) installed, some taking hours to work.
7. Finally getting to run make install, but then the database won't work.
8. Taking another 2 hours to get the DB to work, then it finally works.
IMO best practical needs to work out a bunch of problems with the installer for RT............way too much that you need to do to get it to work. If it were my decision, I would have tried something else. Anyone else have problems with this pain-in-the-@$$ software?
