I'm wanting to buy a laptop to run Linux in the next month or two, and was wondering if anyone could recommend anything? I'm looking for something preferably £600 ($900) or under with the following specs:
- 14" screen
- Some form of OpenGL acceleration (Doesn't have to be too fast, as long as it's there)
- DVD ROM
- Ethernet
- Sound
- Linux compatible
- 30GB hard disk would be nice.
- No Operating System would be preferable as I would like to install Gentoo myself.
One of the main problems I've found is that the only places that specify Linux compatible laptops seem to be really expensive. Other places (mainly the big brands) don't specify and even don't appear to offer them without Windows. I've tried contacting them but don't usually recieve a reply.
So can anyone reccomend anything worth considering?
Cheers
