Just Had to Do it !!!! It makes Redhat Run like Gentoo!!!! lolol This I can't Put in words... It's FAST!!!!!

Libranet2.8
800 MHz system bus with 3.0 Processor
1g DDR400 Ram
2 80g Hard Drive's
Sound Blaster 5.1
PNY G4 Video Card
DVD Burner
CD/RW
750 Zip Drive

How much faster do you really need to run? Open Office opens on a single click 1sec. or less lolol and we all no open office boots slow. O how about this, compiling kernel 1.5 Min. lolol

The down falls is this board calls for 2.5 or 2.6 kernel. it will boot up on 2.4 but thats all....and at this time no NVidia drivers for 2.5 or 2.6 that I can Find.
The Kernel is all Configured 1 piece at a time..Still trying to get everything working wright....

But dammm its fun!!!!! :D

Well this is going to sound like an 80's burger add.

WHERE'S THE REDHAT?

Impressive system specs, but you're not even running redhat so how can you make the statment that it will make Redhat run like Gentoo?

Redhat was put on for a test, after that I went back to Libranet2.8 I like it a lot better... Boot up on redhat was about 10 Sec. and the same for Libranet

I can probably solve your NVidia issue with 2.5, 2.6. :D

Go to http://www.minion.de/ and download (if you have the 4363 driver) NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4363-2.5.diff, and follow the following.

# sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run --extract-only
# cd NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363/usr/src/nv
# patch -Np1 -i /path/to/NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4363-2.5.diff
# ln -s Makefile.kbuild Makefile
# make

It works, it'll give an error at the end, but the module is still compiled and it will work. Just copy the nvidia.ko file to /lib/modules/2.60-test1/kernel/drivers/video and you'll be set with a nvidia video driver that works in 2.6 (I know it works since I am using it while in 2.6)

I should probably mention that some people have had slow down problems with doing this, so use at your own risk. I haven't experienced any slow downs getting a nvidia this way for 2.6.
