This "how I did it" is dedicated to the use of google. I've only been a member for a few months now, but over those months i've seen people have trouble with this... so here it is.
When you have a problem with linux (no matter how big or small) you will find the answer on www.google.com/linux (http://www.google.com/linux)
For example:
Your NIC doesn't work with linux... so, go to G4L (google for linux, link above) and type your model name, e.g. netgear, in the search box. As this will probably give you a mountian of results, try to narrow your search by also typing your computer model e.g. Dell Precision 650 (if it doesn't trim your results, try typing some more of your machines specs). After that you should have the results that you are looking for.:rolleyes:
