Well im new to the linux world. I wanted to setup a file server, a non-microsoft server. What linux distro is the best in the server world?? Free one??

Any Linux distro would do as most include Samba of which you will need for Linux/Windows file and print sharing.

We've had many questions asked on the same topic recently. Have a search in the JL forums (based on titles) for 'server' and you will find a few.

But basically any distro will do. Research each and decide which is best for you and your hardware.
