hello
i downloaded slackware 9.0 iso today, and whilst i can read it in windows, my pc (which im installing linux on) doesnt want to boot from it.
i have downloaded a boot disk and written it to a floppy, but i dont know how to start the installation.
my cd drive is the primary device on the secondary ide channel.
i suppose that makes it hdc1 ?
when i use the bare.i image i downloaded, there is an option to put in a parameter when booting.
i have tried ramdisk hdc=cdrom
but that didnt work, what should i do?
i hope someone can help

many thanks

It has always worked like a charm for me.
How did you burn the CD?

first i used nero but that just made a coaster, but alcohol 120% seemed to burn it fine. ill see if it boots on this machine

Do you have your BIOS set to boot from your CDROM?

how do i tell if it is a bootable iso?
the documentation included on the cd says it should auto boot...
is there a way of making it auto boot?
any other ideas?
thanks for help so far anyway:)

oh yeah i just tried it on this machine and it didnt boot from the cd either...

would k3d (as with lindows 4.0) be suitable to burn the image?
