Hi !

I'm trying to install Debian, but I'm stumped :

I have a Debian Sarge net install CD. When the CD boots, it asks me the boot option (I chose "vanilla"). But then it asks me where "the module for my network card is". Where is it ? Should I specify the path to the CD or what ?

I have already installed Linux, so I'm not a total newbie, but this one has me stumped.

Searching on the web gave no result. I seem to have a VERY minimal installation CD (I think it's about 10 MB) and all the tutorials I found had the same directions, but none applied to my case !

Please help me get Debian on my box !!!

Thanks for any help !

it wants to know where it is, like on a CD or a floppy. wherever you have it.

You have to find the modules on the net then download them onto a floppy.

What I did was, download the first cd of woody (of 7) and install debian that way, as all the modules are on the first cd.
It saved me the pain of finding modules for the other machines I installed debian on as well.

But where do I get the module ? It's a loadable kernel module, right ?

I searched and found nothing in google, I looked at kernel.org, debian.org, etc. but didn't find the module for my network card (onboard intel pro/100 ve network connection). I found drivers for my card, but I don't suppose that would work, would it ?

Also, I could download the first Debian cd as suggested (I have ADSL), but the HD on this box is quite small and I don't have a CD burner yet :(

I'm not sure how it works, but try pointing it to the drivers for your card to see what happens!

/me thinks you're using the official sarge net install cds. which are for installer development. meaning its bad to try to install with them.

just use the normal woody cds, (or cd), and then when it asks for your sources.list stuff, just add the normal stuff, and then add net sources, and then update it to goto sarge instead of woody.
