They've been calling my system x1-6-00-40-ca-49-ec-69 is it a way I can change it to something I'd perfer?

modify the /etc/hostname file.

Search the JL forums for 'change hostname' and you should find plenty of previous threads explaining the process.

Some are for different distros.
