When I tried to install Netbsd a segment fault(I belive it was called) stopped the installation. It was during the process of when it was copying the files to the Hdd.

Does anyone know why this has occured and how to repair it?

Have you tried installing again? It could have just messed up the first time around

Could be a bunch of things; hardware incompatibility, bad memory, bad drive, lack of resources, etc. Does it crash at the exact same spot each time (i.e., is it repeatable)?

Write down as much info from the error message (and right before it) as possible before it reboots. Make sure you choose the 'show files as they are being copied' option, so you can pinpoint the exact file it's trying to write when it chokes.

If you don't know what a segmentation fault is, it concerns me that you are trying to run NetBSD. It's not for newbies, and is the hardest of the 'free three' to configure, although the NetBSD install is my favorite of them.

You might want to consider FreeBSD until you get your feet wet...

Its working, all I had to do was to re-install it.

Got another problem though, but I'll make a new thread about it.

Thx for the help!
