I was just wondering what search engine the JL community uses. I know many (if not most) use Google, but does anyone use Metacrawler, Yahoo, or any of the others?

I know many (if not most) use Google, but does anyone use Metacrawler, Yahoo, or any of the others? oubipaws 07-08-2003, 01:05 PM I use the following: google.com/linux <-- the most used dogpile.com <-- second most used yahoo.com <-- third most used serz 07-08-2003, 01:35 PM Ahr... I voted MSN! I didn't want to.. I wanted to vote Google :( I only use Google. ph34r 07-08-2003, 01:44 PM Google, although search.com 's metasearch is nice... sharth 07-08-2003, 04:33 PM AHHH!!! WOMBATS! ZAmodeo 07-08-2003, 06:11 PM 3 things: 1. I thought you could only have 10 options in a poll. There are 11 there. 2. Nice idea to add the JL search option. Thanks to whoever did. 3. WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THE WOMBATS??? Someone must have hacked the thing... again. Remember the time when there was about 200,000 or some other insane number of votes in one poll for one option? Doubt I'll ever post another poll again... redhat81 07-08-2003, 09:53 PM I thought Yahoo was a web directory... hop-frog 07-08-2003, 10:12 PM Google is a great search engine for finding Error 404 pages. ShieldWolf 07-08-2003, 10:17 PM In order of use;
Google For Linux JustLinux search
In order of importance;
JustLinux search Google For Linux
In other words, most of my casual searches start with Google, but most of my serious questions get answered by JL or G4L. BTW, who else remembers Infoseek? hop-frog 07-08-2003, 10:19 PM Originally posted by ZAmodeo 3. WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THE WOMBATS??? Someone must have hacked the thing... again. Where's DMR? bwkaz 07-08-2003, 10:43 PM Originally posted by hop-frog Google is a great search engine for finding Error 404 pages. Hmm, well, good thing they have that "Cached" link available on all their results, then, isn't it? :D Unless you aren't searching for web pages? They don't cache anything else, I don't think... (I don't think I've had issues with 404'ed pages being listed in their index more than ten or fifteen times, actually, in the last few years of searching... of course, that's anecdotal evidence, so feel free to ignore it ;)). What are you searching for that's coming back with a 404 page? If I see what you're talking about, that will no doubt help clear the numerous cobwebs that are obviously addling my higher brain functions... :p hop-frog 07-09-2003, 09:18 PM http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=linux+centre&btnG=Google+Search See cache for first link.
