I would suggest you get a Nvidia card. I haven't played around with an ATi card, but from what I have read about ATi dropping support for Linux, Nvidia is the way to go. I haven't had a problem with my Asus GeForce v6800 (original Geforce card w/ 32 mb ddr ram) ever while running Linux.

To put it frankly, I'd suggest a 64mb Geforce4 MX440.

As I posted in the other one this morning, have a look back over the last week or so in the Hardware forum.
Endre... We were not 'telling you off', but suggesting you take advantage of what has already been asked and answered many, many times.

with the risk of hijacking this thread, I want to say that I didn't feel any hostility in your comments, MdWatts, I totally understand your comment on my thread, hence the smilie after my remark.
<edited by mdwatts> Thanks... I did notice the smiley, but wanted to make it clear to some of the other members in case they were wondering. :)
I run a website myself, so I can relate a lot!

I have an extra RADEON 7000 64MB DDR AGP 2x/4x compliant card if you would like to purchase it from me, or trade for something?

I've had no problem getting my geforce4 mx420 agp to work, but I would check pricewatch (www.pricewatch.com) and get the best NVIDIA card I could afford. I had an ATI card, and it was a pain to get working w/hardware acceleration.

I'd suggest that one too. It's a good video card, and it's cheap.

I've heard that geforceFX cards sound like a lawnmower, but they perform well. If you don't mind the extra noise during games, I guess that would be OK. I don't know the performance differences, though. I've mainly avoided geforceFX cards since my computer is loud enough already.
