Before I made any adjustments, my downloading speed was averaging 2500-2600Bps. Now, my speed is averaging 3000Bps.
This may not seem like very much, but it's actually about 20% increase in speed.
All I did was add these two lines to my '/etc/ppp/options' file:
mtu 576
mru 576
I'm attaching my own options file incase it might help somebody. (I had to add ".txt" on the end for the server to accept it.)

That's great!
I remember when I had dial up, I'd fawn if I even got 2.5k on a download. 3k would have really helped me then.
Thanks a bunch!

Bravo!
I remember Sensei posting this tip back when we were still wondering when the 2.0 kernel would be released!
My analog phone line was so noisy that I had to choke my MRU and MTU down to 296.
But then it did give me a consideraqble improvement.

Wow, I didn't think something so simple would get such fast and welcoming responses. It actually took me quite a while of google searching to find out exactly what(if anything) could be done, and what the best settings would be. I tried to make the intructions as simple as possible and I'm glad you all appreciate it.

Give me your hand and I'll walk you over to the JL Help Files. :p
Still nothing wrong with posting the same in 'How I did it' as some may not bother to look at the JL Help Files. Of course some may not bother to look for either.

I went to the page you were talking about:
http://justlinux.com/nhf/Modems/Tweaking_Your_Modem_with_MTU_and_MRU.html
I set my MRU to 512, like it says, to see if my connection would be any faster. Not only was it not faster, I couldn't connect to any websites at all. To be sure, I kept disconnecting and trying to connect for a half hour. After I set it back to 576, everything started downloading like normal again. This same thing happened to me when I tried using 296, I don't know why though.

It would seem we have our first volunteer to rewrite/update the MTU Help File. ;)
Way to go Sepero.
Seriously though, we will be looking for volunteers shortly to help with updating the current JL Help File library. You can get started now if you like. Thanks...
