Hi Folks, I have a strange problem. Yesterday I tried to install slackware on a box that previously had gentoo installed on it. I've got a single IDE HD at /dev/hda.

This is the procedure I followed:
- boot from slackware 9.0 CD
- delete all partitions with fdisk
- create 2 new partitions with fdisk

- one 256 MB swap
- one large root partition

- perform slackware package install
- when I get to LILO install, I take the automatic
installation option
- finish out network config, hostname, etc and reboot
- remove slackware CD

On reboot I get

Grub loading, please wait....
Error 17

Whoops! What have I missed? How can I exterminate the Grub?

Thanks!

Blue

Popular question here.

Boot with a Win9x bootdisk and run

fdisk /mbr

Master Boot Record, eh? I should have thought of that.
I know you value searches highly. :D I tried to search the forums for grub error 17 and the engine complained about 17 being too short. Got a search workaround?

Thanks again!

There is a minimum search length of 3 characters, so add a asterisk to 17.
