ok im trying to do a clean install with mandrake but the first screen will pop up sayinf enter to install or f1 to do what ever well the i hit enter to install so then it looks for the cd in the cd rom well then it cant access the cd rom so what do i need to do i dont understandthis prob obviously it access it right i mean it pulled the first screen didnt it access that from the cd rom? and help would be appreciated. thanxs justin

Could you please tell us a bit about your hardware?

HD on primary/master? CDRom on secondary/master? etc.

cdrom is sec master

Some distros have problems installing if the cdrom is on primary/slave, so I guess that is not the problem.

Try the install options at

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-8.0-Manual/install-guide/ch-bootopts.html

though they are for Redhat, they should work for Mandrake though Mandrake may have similiar instructions posted at their own site.

The ide=nodma is popular.

Intel or AMD?
