I created a site for a Windows to Linux application equivalency list. I am thin
king it would be good for people who are new to Linus, and to show to people who
are thinking of doing Linux so they can find that they can do the same tasks wi
th Linux.

Any feedback would be appreciated. I still need to spend some time with adding
actual applications. If you want, post some other equivalent app names and I wi
ll put them on the list.

Thanks,

Follow my sig. I would probably work to link your two sites together and/or ask to join that work in a collaberation.

I don't know if these are on hirguy's site, but...

GNUPG > PGP (Encryption)
GKrellM > err, I don't know of any monitor software for windows...(system monitor)
gFTP > WS_FTP (FTP client)

Just a matter of aesthetics, but I would place the windows programs on the left since most people using the list would be more familiar with the windows programs. IMHO...

Oh, yeah... you might want to put a border on those tables, it would be easier to read...

Thanks for the comments. I will put the windows apps on the left, add some of those apps, and put a border around the table.

Is it intuitive that you can sort things alphabetically by clicking the links at the top, or should I put something explaining that?

I thought it was, but it can't hurt to mention it somewhere I guess. Another thing that might be nice is a search once the list gets large.

For FTP programs u might want to add kbear and gftp. For video playing adding mplayer is an absolute must! Plays almost any format under the sun if you set it up correctly.

I would say that Gaim is more like Trillian..not really like AOL instant messenger.
