I started setting up "kde control center, login manager, autologin" on a few kickstart built hardware cloned boxes.
It's strange that some of them worked and others didn't.
For the boxes that didn't work, as root used the following command at a terminal command line:
'gdmsetup'
The command brings up the gnome desktop manager where you can setup autologin of a user. You can delay the autologin to give you time to login as another user.
I have not used gdmsetup on enough boxes to be sure that it is more stable then kde login manager. It has worked %100 so far.
The files relating to kde and gnome autologin manager live at:
/etc/X11/xdm/kdmrc kde file
/etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf gdm file
