ok well I finally got the mini install downloaded and burned
and I got the cd to boot, but then it asks for a terminal
type and theres 5 choices... no matter which one I use
I can only choose [select] and [x exit install]
and in some terminals when I switch between the 2
it over writes the text a little wierd like over lapping...
cant find any install docs on sparc for freebsd on their site so
hopefully someone here can help...
I also cant choose any options in the menu in the terminals
so Im kinda stuck... thanx

I found this while Googling for 'sparc64 install terminal freebsd':
http://news.gw.com/freebsd.sparc/1492

It says that in order to install FreeBSD on a sparc64 system, you have to use a serial console and choose either vt100 or ansi.

More info on using the Sun serial console:
http://news.gw.com/freebsd.sparc/1845

Finally, here are the install instructions and release notes for 5.1 on sparc64:
ftp://ftp2.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/sparc64/5.1-RELEASE/INSTALL.HTM
http://www.freebsd.org/releases/5.1R/relnotes-sparc64.html

I dont see how the serial console thing applies, I see why ya
posted it, cause it says on the other one about ppl had success w/ serial console but I dont really understand how it applies... oh well Ima try and install again using vt100 or ansi...

got it to install but I guess Xfree86 and a lot of its components
didnt install correctly.... is this common problem?
Ima try and pkg_add but Ive gotta get a connection hooked
up to the box first....
