Hi,

I have a Siemens Fujistu Amilo laptop, but it's a quite "old" one, with a 12'' TFT screen.
I can't get a better resolution than 800x600 on the laptop. But if I plug my new 19'' screen on the laptop, I can get 1024x768.

So, as it is certainly the same graphic card, I presume that changing the graphic card would not improve the situation (about the resolution on the laptop itself) ? It's the 12'' screen who is limiting the resolution on the laptop, isn't it ? And no way to change this without changing all the laptop ?

In fact... I'm really new to laptop stuff... is there a way to change only the graphic card on a laptop ? :D

No, you'll have to buy a new laptop with a better graphics card

Your screen is what limits you, not the card if you can get a CRT to a higher resolution.

The LCD screen only goes up to 800x600.

My laptop screen will display anything at or below 1024x768, nothing higher but if I hook another monitor up I can go higher I believe.

So you need a newer laptop if you want higher resolution.
