No. RedHat does not include support for reading NTFS partitions out of the box. However, this site (http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/info/redhat.html) have the patches/packages you will need to accomplish this.

Cheers :)

Looking through the default kernel config, it looks like RH9 has NTFS available. I have since re-compiled for my laptop and NTFS was selected already...

Red Hat 8.0 did not have this enabled and it needed to be compiled

Mandrake has great NTFS support - you can read NTFS partitions fine. Also, Mandrake has the option of resizing NTFS partitions in the install, which not many distros have.

As for RedHat 9.0, it still seemed like patching was necessary according to the linux-ntfs.sourceforge link?

Yes I agree somewhere in this dimension I known of someone whom used 8.0 and upgraded too 9.0 that had ntfs readable support. So i will try to load it on with dual boot and win2000pro already installed. Can someone direct we as too an area where there is instructions on how to install this RedHat 9.0. First I downloaded about 3 disks of ISO's and do not know where to begin. I already installed Man9.0 on a strictly Linux built machine all went ok., except the modem, still trying on that issue. nevertheless I need Redhat for my costly University Linux course.
That is why I have to use it rather then Man9.0, but man 9.0 is basically the same.

Hi

RHL 8 here w/ NTFS support working just fine.

I'd like to know if its possible to have read write support?

Not that I'm gonna enable it any time soon :D since I guess it could be disastrous to the NTFS partition!

Thanx.

From what I have seen out of the current kernel patches, NTFS write support is an option, but I think that it is label as EXPERIMENTAL. Also, on the brief description, it does state that NTFS write support is very buggy and could damage your NTFS partition. Luckly, NTFS read support works like a charm in Mandrake 9.1; that's all I really need.
