I am thinking of putting my SB live 5.1 back in my computer. Last time it was installed, I didn't have control of the surround eax, rear speakers, sub, or whatnot.

Questions

1)do the current emu 10k drivers support the onboard 5.1 decoding?

2)If so, will 5.1 playback work with xine?

3)can I control the rear, center, and sub chanels through the alsa mixer?

4)will I have real time control over pro logic and the surround eax features ? Or must I edit some config file and restart the sound service everytime I want to change it?

I have been to many different sites about this, but they are very unclear, and most are not up to date.

the emu10k1 file should also have emu-tools, this will let you use digital speakers, subwoof, surround decode. if you don't have emu-tools, the sourceforge site has it available.

I'll go check that out...

mart_man00:

Yes, I do have sound. In fact, I get every feature that normal sound cards provide: MIDI, wave, joystick, the usual. In fact there is a very good tutorial on this site that can guide you through it stap by step (better than I can considering I am still very green when it comes to biulding modules)

I was just wondering if I cound get ... well I guesse your right - perfection:D . I just miss 5.1 audio when watching DVD's. ( The surround EAX is also excelent)

I'm using RH 9 with a SB Live 5.1 (only 4.1 sound right now, due to me being a broke ***, keep reaching for that rainbow!) but it defaulted with the emu-tools and surround mixer, sounds great once you get the mixer setup right.
