hi, I have a VIA Chipset for my sound card and I am trying to get it working. I looked at the VIA-Chipset file in the documention of the kernal but I just don't know how to rebuild the kernal without PCI quirk support. Could you help? Thanks.

Don't bother. :)

You should be able to configure your distro (what is your distro, BTW?) to use either the via8233 module, or the via82cxx_audio module, for sound (probably the latter). If your distro uses alsa, then try either snd-card-via82cxx, or snd-card-via8233 (depending on motherboard revision).
