the longhorn project will be (I belive) the window durring wich linux will have an excelemt opportunity to "flood the desktop" as windows did in the 80's. Why? Because once people learn that all their software that they paid hundreds for no longer works on this new OS, they will realize that it is pointless to spend hundreds more for new software thst is liscensed under terms that will turn the PC industry into a dictatorship - when they can buy a box set of linux for around 30 - 50 (or download it for free) dollars and in return get most every peice of software ther will ever need. I think the linux community should prepare for this and and be positioned for an agressive promoting and support of linux at that time. Because when it happens, M$ will be brought down (on a competitive level) and linux will have more than a fair chance to put M$ in its place. (I think *thats* why they see linux as a threat - lets face it, at the moment, linux is not the threat M$ makes it to be. Doesn't anyone see their whole stance on this as strange?)
