just found it ironic that Microsoft AD's were at the top of a linux forum.. whatever pays the bills though:p

i just hit this site on my linux box and microsoft banners ad's are gone.. that kinda cool how they do that, interprets what OS/Browser you have

Is there an auto-delete for these types of threads? If not there should be. Hell, I'd settle for a automatic link to one of the million other identical threads.

This stuff should be covered when people register.

It's not that we're 31337 or anything. It is just really annoying. I mean, prior to this post, I think that there was about 1 new thread per day about the banner ads. It's kind of like a person constantly coming up to you, reminding you that their name is "Bob" every five minutes.

The way I look at it: If Microsoft wants to sponsor a site on Linux, let them.

Plus, the posting guidelines (sticky thread at the top of every topic) specifically request that people search the forum to see if their particular question has been answered previously (which this has been)

were in "/dev/random".. and it was a comment, not a Q.. when i have some free time and go to a "general" section of a forum to "shoot the ****" and start a convesations i really don't wanna do reasearch first.. the point was made before you posted, with all due respect, i got it the first time ;)
