Ever since I graduated (in March 2002)I have had the unfortunate pleasure of having positions that suck( I shouldn't complain at least I have had a job right!).
The first position was a Asst. Netowork Admin for a bank with six locations. Basically programming phone mail boxes and reinstalling windows 98 on the teller machines. Fixing keyboards, mice things I feel were trivial. I did learn, but my boss took advantage of me becuase there were only two of us him and I. So when I started about a week later he didn't start showing up until 10 or 11am.. what crap.. finally I ditched that crap whole.
Just this past March I started a new position with the University in my area. I thought o hell yes what an opportunity free tuition all kinds of people to network with just what i was looking for ... NOPE
I work in this office as the only IT person.. for some reason part of my responsiblity is to schedule appointments for the media planner to train professors on the multimedia classroom equipment (can this guy not scheudle his own appointments?)
I have created a database for the work at the new job.. started to create a interface for the database stuff like this.. but to me it seems like learning is more tedious without the expertise of others to guide you. Am i wrong..
I guess I am wondering how you do it.. do you prefer to learn on your own? Do you spend every waking moment in front of a computer or a book?
Sorry if this sounds like Im *****n .. maybe i am a little....
