I think you will need to save the file as a Word .doc file, Microsoft Word doesn't open Linux files... unfortunately, I don't think OpenOffice opens Kword files, either, but you could check at www.openoffice.org

That's the thing, I can't get into my Linux system to save it as anything else. All I have is the file saved on a floppy and I don't have access to a Linux system . I will, however, check on openoffice.
thanks for the reply.

If you use OpenOffice (or star office for that matter) it can save to external formats. Thats the key. The only way you can open that on a Windows machine is if its in a file format it can recognize. In Open Office, save to Word for 97......xp (dont remember the whole thing)

Hayl, you hit the nail on the head.
I am sure some one here would be happy to convert it for you Or if you really want to be dangerous. Post it here and ask for some one to covert it. I'll bet you'll get at least 5 conversions posted back in no time.

KOffice isn't advertised as supporting Microsoft Office formats. I would recommend in the future using Open Office which is available for both Windows and Linux and supports its own format as well as Microsoft's. It is part of most distributions these days and you can download it at www.openoffice.org.
However, if you attach the file here as a zip file, I can open it in KWord and paste the information into Open Office Writer and save it as a Microsoft Document.

you do realise that if you post this doc whomever converts it will have to read your doc too!

Thanks If it's in KWord native format, then the short answer is no. Your best bet is to find someone with a Linux box, have them open the file and save it to a common format such as .rtf or straight text.
I know there is another thread where someone is having trouble with an .rtf formatted doc, but I know from a lot of experience that an .rtf will be seen in most any word processor. I've created an .rtf in Kword, brought it up and edited in MS Word, brought it up in OO.o and edited it, then brought it back into KWord and it worked wondefully.
For your problem, you need a Linux box running KWord.
