Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : KDE: Default Executable File Icon

Hello, everyone.

I am running SuSE Linux 8.2 Professional with KDE 3.1.1.

I noticed yesterday that the default icon for executable files is no longer a KDE gear; instead, all of the executable files have the KWrite icon!

I am extremely confused and I wonder if this oddity could be a symptom of something serious. :(

Could someone please tell me how to restore the proper default KDE gear icon for executable files?

Thank you very much, in advance! :)

Cordially,

David

Hi Dave,

In Konqueror

Right click a text file >> Edit file types >> On the General page click on the gears icon (to load Icon Select) >> Make sure System Icons and Mime types are selected >> Select the icon you want to associate with text files and click apply.

You may have to refresh Konqueror or re-start it for changes to take effect.

Hope it helps,

Kai

Hello, Kai!

I thank you, belatedly, for your helpful response! (I had solved the problem and did not see the e-mail notice that you had responded to my query.)

Thanks again, Kai! :)

I wish you success on your job search! (I myself am seeking another technical writing job.)
