A little question >> I have a machine that has the XP OS and is running on NTFS file system> I have tried too install Man 9.0>
It reiterated that it could not perform the task due too the file format. Inwhich in this case is the NTFS> When I installed using Win2 Pro it also was an NTFS file system> But Man9.0 recognized the file system and accepted it and went on too partition too a dual boot system, for Man 9.0 has a total different file system then FAT32 NTFS or what ever> Now the question is tht the XP NTFS associated with Man9.0 needs to have a Overwrite program to enable this can someone point me to a area whereas I may get this>>

I assume you are attempting this install on another partition that had previously been formatted as NTFS? You will need to fdisk that partition , then Linux will be able to install. You can run from the commandline "cfdisk /dev/hdxx (where x is the drive and partiton you want Linux installed eg:/dev/hda2 or whatever it is) Who is the mfg. of your HD? There might be tools that you can use from them.

Your correct DMR, I have run into this very scenario between Linux install and XP, no go to Linux install and 2K, go, with out prior HD wipe.

thank you all for your excellent advice> But my original intent was too fine the over write program for the XP NTFS program>
The fine tuning on XP is availiable as to where I do not know? This is what I am asking ?

You can use something as simple as a 98 boot disk and run fdisk on the partition to overwrite and make a fat partition which Linux will be able to install on if you don't want to use the method I prescribed above. As before I asked what is the mfg of your HD? It can have a bearing in some cases.

all the partitions were previviously done, but again it will not accept the the formatted partition due too a conflict with the XP NTFS. It is alright i just received the how too from XP too install over the Ntfs 3.02 XP. In order too accomplish this you have to change 3 sets of code with in the root system of the XP win.
Thank to all for your help I have it installed via XP dual boot
