I am a newbie, looking at linux as an alternative to windows. What I need to do is build a machine where users will see only 2 icons and a logon/off and no ability to right click the desktop to do anything. I have been configuring RH9 with KDE desktop, pc's will be PIII, 256MB RAM min. I have been reading redhat unleashed but haven't found anything like this yet. Thanks in advance. Peter

Edit the XF86Config file. Make it appear to the machine that the mouse only has one button. That should solve your right click problem. No mapping to the button, no action to execute if it is clicked.

No matter how many books you read, I don't think you'll find an explanation for this - it simply isn't planned. Jammin's hackish way might work, but then your users won't be able to rightclick in the applications they use either. What I'd recommend you to do is to use blackbox/fluxbox/openbox, and edit the menu they get when they rightclick so it only shows the apps you want.

No matter what you do, they will still be able to do ctrl+alt+F1-6 and get a command prompt unless you remove getty lines from /etc/inittab
