Im about to attempt to put Quake3 on my new Red Hat install. I have read different threads in various forums and i've discovered how to install the windows version on a linux os.

run the patch> copy the contents of the cd to the dir> etc...

My question is, can I just copy the baseq3 and any Mod folders from my windows partition over to the new baseq3 on linux so I dont have to reinstall mods and maps? I play Threewave and OSP all the time and it would be nice if I could just do that.

sure... I just symlink the .pak files and such so I dont use up all the disk space twice.

purring like a kitten.... there is still a couple matters I need to address however. Right now I only have the use of three buttons on my mouse. The two thumb buttons on my MS Optical Mouse are not setup. I'm quite sure I selected the correct mouse during the install. The other more important thing is I cant seem to connect to any servers. Has RedHat disabled the use of the ports Quake needs to play over the internet? I have no trouble connecting to websites so what do I need to change?
