And I'd like to get to know some of the basics without having to buy a book on it. Is there a good BASIC Linux website anywhere I can read up on? In all honesty, I've already installed Linux on my second computer, and have used it rather proficiently, but I'd like to know where files go when a program gets installed and stuff like that. What is /sbin and /usr and directories like that? Whats wrong with naming it Program Files dammit!? Anyways. Some day down the road, I hope to set up my own web/mail server for fun. I've done it already with Win2000, but the hardware needed to run a domain controller, AD, IIS, and Exchange2000 is simply ridiculous. Linux is the answer in my book.

There is a ton of information out there. The NHF's at this site, the HOWTO'S and guides at www.tldp.org, the site in my signature are all decent places to start out. If you have a specific problem or question, google can be a real lifesaver, and for free tech support searching this site can save you hours of frustration.

Yeah, I dont have many tangible issues though. If I come across one Google is my first and usually last step. But I was hoping for some sites that help in the more "general" area of Linux. Like the filesystem. I also cant seem to grasp the concept of "grep" and seeing what programs and services I have installed. Things like this. I assume all this comes with time and experience, but you have to start somewhere. Thanks for the reply though. The sites you did mention helped some.
