When I boot my system into Mandrake, It always boots to BlackBox. I do not want to use BlackBox until I understand Linux a little better. I am able to log out and switch over to KDE, but this is a hassle. I am set to auto logon, but I guess I could change this if that is nescessary, though I like the convenience. When I was installing Mandrake, I think I accidentaly selected BlackBox as my Window Manger. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately I am sitting in front of a linux box with Debian installed w/o X so I will try to remember what I have done on my home PC (RH 7.2).
In your home directory there should be a .xinitrc where it defines your default window manager. Also try typing switchdesk on the command prompt to change it (this maybe a RedHat only command).

Hi Hey15Bob,

In blackbox if you type >> kcontrol from a terminal window it will launch the KDE control panel. Then type System Administration (left list) >> Login Manager>> Administrator Mode( Bottom & enter root password) >> Session. From here you can click on kde3 under (Available Types) and move it to the top of the list with the up arrow (to the right)

You can also disable auto-login (which you should anyways) from the Convenience tab. Almost forgot click on apply changes(bottom) to make it permenant.

Hope this helps

Kai
