The source code is another 7-disc set. All you need to get an install going is the first disc. In fact, you don't even need that. You can download a floppy image and do a complete network install, no CDs needed. jetblackz 05-12-2003, 02:16 PM If you want a lightweight Deb system and would reinstall it over and over, http://www.knoppix.net/ Only one CD. scott_R 05-13-2003, 02:17 PM The first cd is the installation cd. The rest are packages and if you need to install something, chances are it's been upgraded, and once you 'apt-get update', you'll be downloading the new package anyway. If you have a slow connection (modem), get the floppies, or check out your local computer shop. Some of them carry (or are willing to download) ISO's for a couple bucks. The advantage of having all seven cd's is if you are running on a slower connection, so you can install everything you need without wasting weeks online. If you've got a fairly fast connection, however, you'll probably only use the cd's once or twice, and you might as well just download the first disk to install the base system and some basic software. (X-windows, gnome, kde, and most necessary utilities are on the first disk, if I recall correctly.) theARE 05-15-2003, 07:24 AM Originally posted by jetblackz If you want a lightweight Deb system and would reinstall it over and over, http://www.knoppix.net/ Only one CD. Definetly the way to go, sets everything up for you as well, no editing files to get X working, everything just works straight away after the HD-install. Then just use apt-get to add any extra packages that you need. justlinux.com
