First of all it doesnt load the thingy for my mouse, it says dev/mouse does not exist. Its a 3 button mouse, the 3rd being the scroll wheel.

Second, it doesnt work. I selected the right graphics card driver, and set up the monitor but it says it could find no usuable screens, then "fatal server error: no screens found."

Maybe because I have onboard video in addition to a graphics card? But the visual configurating, xf86cfg, I think it is, loads properly so....

Help.

Also see here for my previous topic on the subject, might have some answers for some of your questions....:

Visual configuration sucks, use:
xf86config
It's a text base config program, works well especially on old computers, and since you're using 3.3.6 I'm guessing you have a fairly old box.

Wow. I've solved my problem with the help of:

http://home.attbi.com/~srvffl/linuxstuff/X_howto.html

I just had to turn off the framebuffer to get it to work using that method.

I'm also running KDE, posting from Konquerer, and using XF86 4.x, on this machine:

AMD K5 PR166
48 mb RAM
2.12 gb HDD
2 mb Matrox Mystique

And its all running rather fast, about the same speed Windows 98 was going at, maybe just a TAD bit slower. Now to try and get the wheel on my mouse to work.

I might.

Now that I finally have Debian up and running I'd like to get comfortable with Linux before switching.
