Morning

Mysteriously the internet no longer works on my windows client. When I attempt to ping client 192.168.1.2I get destination host unreachable.

When I attempt to ping from windows to linux 100% packet loss. None of my original settings have been changed on either computer since I got ics working so I'm at a total loss at where the problem could be.

/sbin/ifconfig shows all interfaces to be up, although the eth1 light on my hub has been flickering quite a bit lately.

I've checked all my wires and they all seem to be fine. Anyone have some ideas at how I can fix this.

What was the problem?

I've gotten this when we had a really quick brownout one night; the power to the network switch went a little too low, and the switch wouldn't forward packets anymore until I pulled the power and plugged it back in (basically, rebooted it). But I don't know that hubs keep any state info, so I don't know if that could be the problem there.

I used /sbin/mii-tool -R to reset the configuration and all worked fine from that point on.
