I've got a quick question for all of you Solaris people out there (I know there must be a few). I am trying to set up a Blade 150 to burn data CDs with a Fantom firewire CD burner, without having to rely on a commercial software solution that will cost more than the hardware that it is runing on. Are there any GPL CD burning utilities that will work with Solaris? According to Sun's website, cdrecord is available for Solaris 9, although mkisofs does not. Unfortunately, I do not have much experience burning CDs with any variety of *nix, much less Soalirs, so I do not know what utilites are required. This is still in the planing stages, so I don't have any of the hardware yet. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have never done this but If I where going to do it I would try and use xcdroast which is what I use on linux the home page is http://www.xcdroast.org

The sourceforge.net page say it runs on solaris. The programs focus is linux but it should work. The site has HP unix instructions which might by a little help with at least the requirements. If you do get it working It would be good of you to send them instructions that they could post.

the main thing that you will need are the cdr tools which may be enough for you purposes
the link for that is:

You can install pkgsrc from NetBSD on Solaris 8 or 9 and they have lots of burning utilities.
