One that will work with your router, and that you can find on hardware.redhat.com under the compatibility list.

Cisco 350 series, or Orinoco Silver, or Gold versions seem to be the best, from mine and others experiences. Any 802.11b card will work with that AP/router.

Linux is still inmature with wireless cards. The most developed cards are ones that use Cisco Aironet and Prism chipsets. Orinoco are based off the Prism cards and are very well supported (linksys WPC11 for example)

First of all, D-Link isnt the best. Trust me, I work in the industry. Secondly, you can get any Wireless NIC that your Router supports. Its probly 802.11b, but if you are looking into the newer standard (802.11g) and are thinking of upgrading your router in the future to support it, get an 802.11g NIC, they SHOULD BE backwards compatable. Look at the box to be sure what standards it is compatable with.

And please, for the love of god, read up on securing Wireless Networks, if you havent already.

If they have a wireless card themselves (say they have a notebook computer), they can do what's known as warwalking or wardriving -- you walk around, or drive around, looking for wireless AP's to connect to. If you find one, you see how hard it is to log on to the network.

Your AP is broadcasting its presence a considerable distance out from its location; if this radius is contained in your building, then there's less of a chance this might happen to you.

But no, they do not need to be standing right next to the AP to do it; they just have to be in communications range. Figure out what that range is (by walking away from the AP until you completely lose your connection), then see if there's any way to get inside that range from outside your house.

Just to let you know you will want to use an 11 mbps card. the 22 use a chip set made by Texas Instrimunts and does not have very good support under Linux. I have an Dinlink DWL650+ card and it is not recoginzied under Linux. I tried loading drivers for it, but was unsucessfull. I must admit I did not spend verymuch time with this but I was unsucessfull. I have an Cisco 350 card and it was reciginzed when I put it in with no work. In all the tests I read the 22mbs cards do not really get double the thruput so I do not see it worth the effort. The 11 mbs cards are compatible with the 22 mbs router so your router is fine, just get the other cards for any machines that use LInux.

Apparently not many people have responded to your post. Maybe nobody here is really sure?

Wireless networking for the average user is still a pretty new thing. Try doing a Google for Linux (http://www.google.com/linux) search for "wireless" or "wireless card" or something along those lines to see what others have used, or what doesn't work.

And keep in mind, don't base all of your decisions off of what one forum recommends. JustLinux is great, but it's only one tool in a massive toolbox of internet Linux resources.
